Catch "Wine Wednesday" with Ziggy on the Morning Krush

Ziggy “The Wine Gal” Eschliman — whose award-winning wine radio shows are broadcast on both coasts — has the brightest, most refreshing voice in wine and spirits today. This groovy guru of libation locks formal pretense in the cellar and embraces the pure fun and pleasures essential to enjoying wine.

“Most wine lovers value quality and like good wine but dislike the stuffiness and ritual often associated with it; that’s where I come in!” beams Ziggy. Whether it’s bubbly, Bordeaux or Zinfandel, vodka or tequila, Ziggy knows the dirt: the who, the what, the where and the why in every bottle.

Ziggy is a seasoned journalist, a highly sought-after guest speaker, a dynamic lecturer and an advocate for the good life. As an educator and a wine judge, she earns high marks and seamlessly weaves her diverse knowledge with a sense of whimsy and spontaneity.

The Hot Sonoman

3 Cups Pear Nectar*
1 Cup Casa Noble Silver Tequila
2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
1 1/2 Tablespoons Chopped Candied Ginger
Fresh Whip Cream
Fresh Grated Nutmeg
1 nice piece of Candied Ginger per drink

Place all ingredients (except Whip Cream & Nutmeg) in a 3 quart sauce pan and heat slowly until hot. In a small bowl whisk the cream until it is thick but not stiff. Stir and ladle the drink mixture into heat proof glasses and pour a fine layer of non-sweetened whip cream over the top. Now grate nutmeg on top of each cocktail, garnish with a slice of candied ginger!
*note if you use pear nectar without sugar add 2 tablespoons of agave nectar & use only 1 Tablespoon of Fresh Lemon Juice.

Thanksgiving Wine Picks 2012

200+ Wines were entered this year from 7 countries! A panel of 15 judges tasted the wines blindly - each one together with turkey to see what really goes. Of course, the dessert wines were tasted to pair with pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie and as a stand alone dessert wine. In all, the wines were terrific across the board. There were some big surprises, which is why we love blind tastings! It was a hard decision but the results are really amazing. Noted by each wine are the descriptors given to me by the judges for each wine.
